At First Baptist Church, Blackwood, it's our mission to help you explore your relationship with God and improve those meaningful relationships in your family life. Join us each Sunday and Wednesday to experience the warmth of faith and the strength of our community.

We look forward to worshiping with you.

What Do We Teach?

We use both the Old Testament and the Gospels as the foundation for our faith and the inspiration for our daily lives. We put those teachings into practice at home and at work.

Church Statement of Faith

Our history.

First Baptist Church Blackwood was founded in 1969 by Pastor Silas McMurray. Pastor Silas served as Pastor until 1975 when his son, David, was elected Pastor and continues to serve in that capacity.   Since that time First Baptist has served the citizens of Gloucester Township and has been involved in countless ministries in its 53 year history.

Since the inception of our church back in 1969 (with twenty-two members), we have known God's presence.  Our existence and growth is due to His faithfulness rather than our own endurance.

Our future and our support of various ministries and programs is based upon the  promise "that He who begun a good work in you will complete it" and the challenge that "there remains very much land yet to be possessed."

Church Leadership

What Are Our Core Values?

We glorify God by growing in our love for Him and each other.  We do this throught Bible instruction and study, Christian Fellowship, and the encouragement of evangelism and missions as well as other caring ministries on a local and global scale.  Just as Jesus said in the Beatitudes, blessed are the poor and the hungry. Our mission is not just to love one another, but to make sure we spread the love of the Gospels everywhere.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

Each believer is called to make a personal  commitment to Christ.  We believe that such commitment is to be lived out corporately in the context of the local church.  Membership at FBC is not a meaningless ceremonial matter.  It is a responsibility involving us in each others lives for the purpose of the Gospel.
Therefore, the first and best way to get involved is to become a member.  As such, we covenant together to care for each other, to encourage each other, and to hold each other accountable to the truths found in God’s Word.
Anyone who obeys the call of Jesus to repent and be baptized, who believes the Bible to be God’s Word, and who is willing to commit to the life and faith of this body, may become a member.
If you are interested in membership at FBC, please see our Pastor about the next New Members Class.  They are usually scheduled at 9am on Sunday Mornings and consist of six one hour sessions.

THIS CHURCH EXISTS FOR THE GLORY OF GOD
We glorify God by growing in our love for Him and each other.  We do this through Bible instruction and study, Christian fellowship, and the encouragement of evangelism and missions as well as other caring ministries on a local and global scale
